ELC Regional Director - April Spurlock

My name is April Spurlock, and I have been blessed to be a part of the LCA ministry for over a decade. I have had the pleasure of being a part of thousands of children's and families' lives during this time. I served as a Pre-K teacher for three years, toddler teacher for one year, and a curriculum coordinator for two years.  In 2011, I felt the Lord calling me to be the director of the Early Learning Center. I'm very thankful for the opportunity to provide excellent, Christian, early education for hundreds of children each year! I was born in Decatur, Illinois and grew up in Charlotte, Tennessee. My family moved to Smyrna my Junior year of high school and I instantly fell in love with this community.  I studied Early Childhood Education and Psychology at Middle Tennessee State University, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree.  I have two amazing sons who attend Lancaster Christian Academy and completed the Early Learning Center program.  My desire is to provide a loving, nurturing, Christ-centered environment for every child that I meet and get that opportunity every day at Lancaster Christian Early Learning Center!

Phyllis Johnson Assistant Director- Murfreesboro

My name is Phyllis Johnson, and it is an honor and blessing to work at Lancaster Christian Early Learning Center in Murfreesboro as the Assistant Director. I was born and raised on the Southside of Atlanta, GA. As a teen, I moved to South Bend, IN where I graduated from Clay High School’s Magnet Program. Right out of high school I attended Indiana State University. There I majored in Exercise Science and Physical Education, with a minor in Dance. While at ISU I was voted President of both the Exercise Student Association and Black Student Union.

At the early age of sixteen is when I began working with children. I have worked with every age group, from babies to seniors in high school. My passion is teaching and guiding children to always do their best and to trust in the Lord with all their might. Although I have been with Lancaster for a short while (February 2020), I’m excited about my future here with the ministry, and looking forward to building with all involved in His plans. I am so thankful for the family and loved ones I have made thus far and excited to see where the Lord takes us on this journey together here at Lancaster.

Ginny Smith- Department Head (Smyrna Campus)

Hello, my name is Virginia Smith.  First and foremost I want everyone to know that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior!  I have worked for the ELC for four fabulous years.  I started at the baby center, then worked in the ones department, then I transferred to the two year old department.  I was also the Department lead for the Ones and Twos. I have been with my husband for 31 years and have 2 amazing grown daughters and a beautiful granddaughter. I have attended church all my life and do not know where I would be without God.  I adore working with children and teaching them the Good News that Jesus died on the cross for all our sins and that he is the one and only living God.  Thank you Lancaster Christian Early Learning Center for giving me the opportunity to work and serve in a Christian environment.

Stephanie Sevier- Department Head (Smyrna Campus)

For the past several years, I have served as the two-year-old department head and curriculum coordinator as well. I am very excited to continue leading in this role and growing in this ministry this year as well as getting to know you, your child, and family!

I grew up in Minnesota but Tennessee has been my home for the past seventeen years. I can now officially say I have been in Tennessee longer than I lived in Minnesota! I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in 2011 and moved to Smyrna, TN in 2015 with my husband John and our daughter Hope. My daughter has attended LCA her entire life and will begin Kindergarten at the academy next year. In my spare time I enjoy reading, traveling, and bargain hunting. I am passionate about early childhood education and have always loved working with children. I am joyfully anticipating another wonderful year! I look forward to watching your children learn and grow in class.
